 STOP PRESS - CHARITY YOGA

Around 50 people attended the event at Stockton on 29 October to raise funds for the local Breast Cancer Care and Ova the Rainbow Gynaecological Cancer Support Group organised by Kath Carrick and two of her students, who are dedicated fundraisers having suffered from cancer themselves.

Before the yoga, the scene was set with a poem from Karen Raby whose mother died of cancer 40 years ago when she was just 7.  The yoga session was suitable for all and included the Parvanmutasana Series and gentle asana work followed by breathing practice, meditation and relaxation.

Kath’s students served refreshments, sold home-baked cakes and ran a raffle and, together with the sale of a Favourite Recipes booklet, raised over £500 for the two charities.

The feedback has been very good and Kath and her students would like to thank all who attended or made donations and made the day such a success.

Up-date Jan 2009 - final total of funds raised £800 some of which has been donated to the Holistic Care Centre at James Cook Hospital.

The better your practice, the brighter the flame."
